i have a turbo performance manifold, wastegate goes upward angle, i have a 4 psi spring in it, but it will boost to almost 11-12 psi with no controller. Can anybody help me to why this is happening?

 

You are most likeley having problems with the wastegate pklacement on the manifold?You should post a pic of the manifold and some more info on your setup

wastegate placement comes off the right side looking at the motor.
wastegate tial 38mm 4psi spring.
garret t3/t4 turbo

im going to try to port the wastegate opening as much as i can....

im also running open downpipe, and i think that is causing it as well.


any other info would be greatly apprieciated.

 

I had the same problem with my drag and open downpipe .I think it is a combination of both but the downpipe is the major problem.

 

yeah? Im hoping its the downpipe and a combo...and nothing serious.....i'll let you know tomorrow i just bought a dremel and im going to port out the wastegate as much as i can

 

well i ported the manifold and it drastically reduced the problem, and its livable now so im good! thanks man
