Default explain "pre-loading"

I dont have slicks at the time and having trouble with traction...ha! imagine that eh. But...when you "pre-load" what are you holding the RPM's at? explain in details, I wanna try it at the track tomorrow. If your not launching at high rpm's wouldnt the turbo have soo much lag and just fall on its face? Im a good driver, but I cant figure out a better way for traction on the track. Anyone and everyone's .02cents is needed.

preloading is more for prevention of drivetrain shock. not so much for traction.

well on slicks and doing my thing idk if i consider it preloading or not, but i just put it in first at the line and rev up to 5000rpms(i suggest u do less) and let the clutch out a bit til it starts gripping a bit so tugs you forward, loading the read suspension and setting weight off the front, and then when its the 3rd amber (idk what u sholuld look for) i drop the ebrake and fully let the clutch out and floor it, and get ready to **** to 2nd, well thats my 2 cents idk thats worked best for me not to break exles, im sure it wears the clutch a lil bit though

make sure you have a clutch that will handle some slippage

heres what i do: get both staging lights lit up, find where i wanna launch (4-4300ish) pull up the ebrake but keep the button in (in other words dont yank it and leave it up, use some muscle and hold it up with the button in) let the slack out on my clutch until im almost to where it grabes, then when the light goes do your thing.... you will proabaly get some pretty good 60fts also

yessir...I just burnt out my clutch last weekend preloading at 5500rpm. Could be the fact that my clutch is over 3 years old also.

dont worry about preloading if your not on slicks.. It wont help you with traction and your street tires wont hook enough to hurt anything.

I dont know how true this is...but launching at 5500rpm, even on street tires, still puts a BIG jolt to the drivetrain

yeah but preloading takes the "slack" out of the drive train.

preloading also helps with weight transfer (by loading the rear suspension) so it can help on street tires or slicks, doesnt matter, which can help in your 60fts.
