Now,
It doesnt sound like a DOHC Vtec, because its not a DOHC Vtec, it sound EXACTLY like what a SOHC Vtec sounds like.
DOHC VTEC'shave the noticeable change in sound at the point of crossover. SOHC's and DOHC i-Vtec's for the most part dont.

Exactly..... the crossover is much quieter on the SPHC and i-Vtec than the DOHC vtec

Wrong. There is a d17a1 non-VTEC, d17a2 VTEC, and a d17a6 VTEC-E. The d17a6 is found in the HX models. That is the only 7th gen that uses VTEC-E.

The VTEC kick-in for a D17 is at 2700rpms. It's hard to hear much of anything that low in the rpm range.

It'd be funny to see someone try that, without changing the fuel maps.
Idles fine, which goes to incredibly rich at 2700rpms, then slightly lean at 5500rpms and the valves start to tick.
