Do you have the slightest clue how to replace a synchro?

just replace all of the synchros if you are going to take it apart. While you are at it inspect the ring and hub assy for damage. Do some research you should be able to get a complete kit for under $200 however if there is damage to the gear set you are looking at around $300 for the gear set

Agreed.

expletive changing an individual syncro, especially if you intend on keeping the car or selling the car soon.

not trying to jack the thread.. but I was kind of having the same problem. I bought a d16z6 and tranny from a friend. When he had it, it ALWAYS ground in 3rd.. my other friend owned it before him and said it did the same thing. So After putting the d16z6 and tranny into my car.. it did just that.. ground in 3rd. It wasnt exactly ALWAYS like they said.. but it was just when under heavy acceleration. Now its got to the point where its loud and grinding constantly. It only grinds when going from 2nd to 3rd. But if I down shift from 4th to 3rd it doesnt grind.. Syncro? I still have a spare vx tranny (spare).. would rather keep that long *** geared tranny out of my car.. but gotta do what you gotta do.. I was just wondering if it was the syncro or if it might be something else
( I havent bothered to put any syncro mesh in yet)

Thanks Alot

-Cody
