Has anyone ever made transmission gears!
i have a crx with b16a and in have two tranny both of them are bad or going bad. i have a Y1 lsd with a broken lsd( it seems to be locked up or something.) the other is a YS-1 non lsd and it has no 3rd gear and 4th and 5th grind a little. the bad thing, is the ys-1 is in my car now and it sucks driving with no third gear. i'm guessing the gears are probly missed up pretty bad. so i was wondering if any one has ever made a lsd or made a gear for there tranny. the Y1 just need synchros and an lsd, i have the resources to cut the material. My father is a machine shop instrutor, i have a CNC mill and lathe on hand. i know any thing can be fabed or made but just wanted to know if anyone had ever tried to do it.
thank for any help.

i don't think it would be wise to make it from scratch. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that they are hardened first off. The second big, probably bigger, problem would be actually sizing the thing. I know you could always get your hands on a good gear and try to measure it up, but they are designed to wear and seat in. Sometimes they purposely have sharp edges so they seat quickly, other times they won't. I just don't see it being even remotely as cost efficient as replacing the gear/synchros.

you can order a book from them that shows you all the math thaty ou need for measuring gears.
you then order the gears and then have the dog teeth machined on them.

this is not to flame but if you have ruined / acquired that many bad trannys new gears isnt what you need it sounds more like driving lessons / better buying habits
it would be useful to create custom gear ratios. the high rpm redline of the b16 and the big gap between the 1.458 3rd and the 2.105 2nd is just over 30% drop (rpms fall to ~5700 with an 8200rpm shift) this puts a lot of stress on the synchros and after time they just wear out.
I'm willing to bet that a 1.9 2nd gear with a 1.458 3rd, the 3rd gear would last longer. just my $0.02
the s2000 also has this issue with their 6speed tranny. even though the gears are much close ratio, that 9000rpm redline puts more stress on the synchros
