annoying ticking on d15b7
when my engine is cold, it makes a very annoying clicking sound for 5-10 min... i heard it was suffering from piston slap... any ideas/recommendations?
besides getting my engine rebuilt, any ideas how to get rid of the noise? any good oil?

Take a screw driver or a short peice of hose, place the flat end of the screw driver, or one end of the hose. On differt areas of the engine, while it's running. Place the other end against your ear and listen. This should help you track the noise down to where it's exactly comming from.
Also, might have your fuel pressure checked, if the noise is coming from the injectors. Too much pressure will make them start talking....

piston slap, just be easy on the motor till it warms up.
For reference my 120K mile D15B7 had quite a bit of piston slap when it laid down this at the dyno......
Figure 135 hp out of a 102 hp (when new!) motor.
