Which turbo would HTer's suggest
alright so I was talking with mase and he suggested the GT30 over the GT28. I am coming from a sc61 so its alittle smaller with faster spooling time which I am lookng for. these are the two that I am debating over.
And I know this is done way to often but I did try and get the compressor maps so i could get a better idea but no luck yet.

I am leaning towards #2 but input would be great. thanks
oh and its a b16 built setup looking at running 15 dailly and around 20 at the track.

THe GT28 almost certainly not make 400whp w/o race gas, so its a good idea going with a gt30. If you are still shooting for ~400whp as in sig, go with the gt3071r. If you get mace again, you may want the larger turbo. You'll be so amazed at the quicker spool, you may want to get a bit more power per pound.
now that I have gooten to 400 I am not too much concerned with it unless I come close to 500. more midrange would be nice. looking for some good track times too. might get a nice pair of drags and a lsd after the new tune to see if I can pop in the 11's

I have this linked to 400 hp group on facebook and most of the guys are leaning to the 3071. I know the definition of A/R but how much does it really effect spool time or top end?
larger AR will increase spool time but it will prevent torque from dropping off up top. what is your max hp goal??? i like the 3076 .82ar for 500whp. (jeff evans made 565whp with it) the 3071 might be better for 400-450 max. and a few hundred rpm faster spool.
well like I said I will probably stay about the 400 mark. well at least that is the plan. do you guys think an a/r over 1.00 is alittle much?
I stepped up from a 28rs to a 3037r a few months ago.
In all honesty, spool didn't suffer that much at all, and I pretty much made the same numbers at 2 psi less boost. It's a great street turbo.
I would definently go with the 3037r, a/r depending on what type of response characteristics/powerband you're looking for. I have to say the .82 a/r

yeah I was thinking that over 1.00 ar was alittle much. still leaning towards the 3071. and thanks for the personal expamples

If he wants to pay the HKS price, cool. But remember, a GT3076 is NOT a GT3037. Different compressor wheel part numbers.

lol. i remember when you schooled me on this a few months ago. i almost suggested the 3037 (since the link he posted said 3037) until i remembered that the names weren't interchangeable.

hey one of the main reasons that I am looking to buy a new turbo is due to the fact that my turbo seals are going and some of the inducer fins broke. if you guys knew of a place that had those inducer fins that would be great and I will just get some other stuff. like a new intake manifold and a catch can, and amybe a meth kit
yeah they compare the sc61 to the gt35 just not bb. I think its a little bigger too. at anyrate i am looking for more of a midrange and quicker spool.

i agree i dont see that 3037 hitting his goals without race gas and some timing
the 3071 or 3076 will definatly be better suited, both turbos have exceptional spool over the sc61 and are very respnsive when your in the revs in between shifts

i agree, but then again im running a 60-1 non ball bearing i dont hit 1 bar till 5200rpms haha
