92 civic ignition tumbler install questions
ok. i lost my keys so i bought a new ignition tumbler and door locks for my car. i finally got them today and i dont know how to get the old tumbler out to put the new one in. i know some one has done this. does anyone have pics or wut to unscrew or unclip? thanx
did you get the complete lock assy? or just the tumbler? if you just got the tumbler then you have to have someone(locksmith) take the old one out, you have to turn the key inorder to take the tumbler out..

what are all these people talking about..... completely wrong information...
this is what you are suppose to do..there are two ways to have automobile keys made.
first off why did you buy new key cylinders? if you look on your new tumblers you will see 4 numbers on it... that is your key code. so if you just took out any of the key cylinders from the door, or the trunk or etc... you have just gotten a new key made? or just going to the dealership with your vin# a new key can be made aswell????
well anyway. you will need your old key, put it in the ignition, turn it once. then at the top of the actual ignition there is a small hole (size of a paperclip diameter) you push that down and you then pull the key out which then pulls the old key cylinder out. installation is reverse.
if i were you, as long as you didnt open the bags return it then get a new key using your vin# and we can lock this thread. good luck

did you not read what i posted before? i dont have the keys to my car. it was stolen before and the door locks are not matched to the vin code. also the ignition is not the one that matches the vin code.

no....
your only option is to get a dent puller and pull it out, then insert the new one as i wrote above.

so thats all you do is pull it out? theres no screws or anything? i just pull the expletive out of it and hope it comes out?
take the ignition off and take it to a lock smith, he'll get it out. probly wont charge much either, the dent puller wont work all it will do is mess up the cyl or brake the part you still need....
if you need pic's lmk

That's new information that would have been helpful. Time to call a locksmith to swap the tumbler or get out the big hammer....

take the plastic's off around the ignition colume and u'll follow the assy and you'll see tw bolts holding it togather, but they have no heads. what you need to do is take a flat screw driver or chisle and hit it to make the bolts turn counter clockwise thats it after they spin a few times you can unscrew them by hand. also dont for get to unscrew the "white ball" theres 2 screws inback of the assy with the ign wires on it..
