Just got 2 JLW3v2's and need to fix box.. and also help which way to hook it up.
So i just baught 2 12'' JL w3v2's /w a Custom Box thats ported. Wondering:
1. How can i fix the box because the Black Things on the 2 holes on the back of it are broken and i need to buy new ones:
a. where do they sell these things
b. what kind of glue would i use to seal it so air doesnt escape
2. How should i wire up these two speakers into my 500watt Alpine monoblock amp (because ive always owned ONE sub never TWO so wanna make sure i wire it up right so i dont blow it)
a. Parrallel or Series? Bridged yes.
b. <ur input here>

Well i just RAN a POS and NEG from one end of sub to the other end and then that end to the amp... and got the terminals at car audio heaven for 5$

Can you tell jl audo why they should not be used in a ported box ? I think they would like to know. They been selling there products wrong for a while and you need to up date them. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=200 A properly built ported enclosure will produce about 3db louder then a sealed enclosure. Also with less power then a sealed enclosure.
I would face your enclosure with the port fireing into the trunk.

ic. i just thought when i thump it real hard it might expand the subs nd might hit the plastic piece in the back, but i gues sill flip it around.. But Anybody know what HPF i should use? (THROUGH? 55? 85? 125?) and what FQZ should i use on subs? (55 85 125? and so on.. please help me out tuning my sound system ^_^. also did i hook it up the right way? one sub to another sub then that to the amp?

first unplug your system. then tell us what ohm your subs are. are they svc or dvc? Also what amp are you using and the specs on it.

how do i know what OHM they are? they are JL w3v2's ?and whats SVC or DVC?? amp im juss using a crappy 500watt boss amp for temporary.

There are 3 12W3v2 subs, 12W3v2-D2 (DVC 2ohms) 12W3v2-D4 (DVC 4 ohms) and 12W3v2-D6 (DVC 6 ohms)... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=12
They are DVC = dual voice coil, it is important to know the VCs impedance, to know how to wire the VCs and the subs together.
All 3 models are 300W continues power handling, for a total of 600W, your 500W Alpine is a little under-powered for the subs, BTW what is the amps model number?
The JL Audio 12W3v2 subs will work in both sealed and vented enclosures... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=12
What are the dimensions of the box HxWxD?
The volume of a sub box is critical to the subs that are in the box, if it is a sealed box 10% more or less will not make much of a diff. but 10% in a vented box will, and port volume is very critical

PS which is it an Alpine 500W monoblock or a "crappy 500watt boss"?

well right now im using a crappy 500wtt boss amp, but im suppose to buy the alpine 500w monoblock from the guy i baught the amp from. but right now he's not pickin up calls. i also am gona borrow my cousins kenwood 550wattrms amp, the digital ones or wahtever, . so mosst likely im gonna be using the kenwood 550wattrms amp. uhmm i have no idea how to check to see which w3v2 it is.. once i get the receit from the dude ill check. the BOX HxWxD ill get measuremnts once i get home .

Assuming the box is 3/4" MDF that would be 3.64 cuft gross, recommended net volume for ported box is 1.75 cuft per sub, so 3.5, add displacement of the speakers .071x 2=0.144 + 3.5= 3.644, WOW almost bang on although port volume still has to be subtracted. but how does it sound?
Be careful not to over drive that Boss amp it can damage the speakers.

When you pulled them to check if they were W3v2s, did you not notice if they were D2, D4 or D6?
