Default What else would you replace?

97 H22a (still has auto tensioner)

I have to replace the water pump, so I figured new timming belt and ballancer belt. I was thinking this would be a good time to put a manual tensioner in as well.

Any other suggestions? Cam gears?

I would say leave out the balancer belt. Just replacing the cam gear isn't going to net you anything unless you plan on tuning afterwards. Would be a good time to adjust the valves though. Timing belt and manual tensioner for sure.

Isn't it a good idea to put in a new thermostat when replacing the water pump?

its not necessary to change the thermostat. just t-belt,waterpump and the tensioner. I would change the front main seal also.

I planed on the thermostat.
The main seal was a good idea. I didn't think of that.

I will look in to leaving off the ballancer belt. Not sure if I want to do that or not.

Ditch the balance belt. It a waste of power.

If your running aftermarket mounts you will feel it much more than with stockers. So if thats the case then maybe you would wanna leave it on.

Personally, I am running polyfilled DIY mounts and the little extra vibration doesn't bother me.

some girls even like the extra vibes..... just saying........

nothing leads to erotic driving situations more than firm motor mounts and a lack of balancer shafts...... and you can quote em on that

I have soft stock mounts. I am going to try removing it for a little bit. If I don't like it then I can always put it back on.

As for the girls, F'um. Litterally.

Thanks for the suggestions and hummor everybody.
