Default will a d16y7 engine be ok to replace my d16y5

my engine blew in my 97 hx. i need to find an engine this week for it the engine code on my motor is a d16y5 and it seems the y7 is more common to find. does anyone know the differences in these motors? any help would be appreciated. i know itll bolt up the same, but as far as any sensors being in different locations or missing etc. thanks

well you are going to have less power, not as good gas milage, and a non-vtec motor, the y5 was suposed to be a economical vtec motor, with only one intake valves opening before vtec, and both opening up after,

If i were you, i would try to get your hands on a d16y8 out of an EX, it has the most power from the D series engines from stock, if you have the money you might as well swap out a B series, if your on a budget, go with a B16 or a LS B18, you will be alot happier and both of those engines will have a lot more potential than the d series ever will with out a good amount of money
