Default 4th Gen-Prelude Diet. Searched

As many of you know, Preludes are heavy. What's worse is the lack of easily removable heavy objects. I know a lot of you have Ludes that weigh significantly less than they did from the factory. Besides the obvious parts to take out, (spare tire, trunk lining, rear seats, front seat replacements, etc...which are still minimal when it comes to weight elimination.) what else have you guys removed/changed to lighten up your ride? And does anyone have any actual numbers after they've put their car on a diet?

Well, here's an old thread where I weighed my car---https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1156578

Should be a good amount less than that by now, but I haven't weighed it recently.

I noticed you said you removed you front and rear bumper support. I've thought of this but I keep thinking they're there for a reason. But isn't it just to absorb shock in impacts under a certain mph? Anybody know what mph exactly? And furthermore, how the hell do you put the bumpers back on without a support?

I don't think I said the front was removed. I have a JDM front support in there now which is a lot lighter, but still holds the bumper cover in place. As far as the rear bumper cover, the support to hold it up is seperate from the actual metal bumper. So you can take out the metal bumper and still have a piece in there to hold the cover in place.

and if you are worried about collisions......

you might not want to think about lightening your prelude. also if you searched, there is a huge thread with a list of things you can remove from the prelude. i think the user was paulh22a4 and he made a list of things you can remove.

I did search. It says "searched" in the title. I came up with nothing. Paulh22a4 also comes up with nothing in the member list. Do you have a link to any of these threads?

It's in the FAQS. First place you should check.

yeah the usdm front bumper support is soooo much heavier then the jdm one. I have two of them here, im prolly gonna switch mine over to jdm to loose a few pounds, other one is for sale if you want it.

lol. Ya know, I did that; twice actually. But it actually became slower than it did when the motor was in there. It just wouldn't go anywhere.
