EJ1 Weight Reduction Info
This might come in handy for anyone who races or drags with a ej
If you've been thinking of removing the rear seats or anything else and wondered if it would be worth the hassle. Heres the facts. All weight numbers have been taken from a home scale. I got my weight then took down the differences while holding the stuff.
Rear seat belts with all hardware---6lbs
Rear interior plastic side panels----4lbs
Bottom half of rear seat-------------8lbs
Top half of rear seat-----------------20lbs
Tar under rear seat------------------1lbs
Passenger seat-----------------------31lbs
Spare Tire, jack, tireiron------------26lbs
Thats 96lbs for all of that and it's not much work either. Another tip besides removing things the best way to save some excess weight is to replace your battery with a more compact light weight battery. The rule of thumb is 100lbs=.1 seconds in the 1/4mile and every little bit helps.

Re: EJ1 Weight Reduction Info (Y2K Si FBP)
I have a heavy old 94 ex coupe. I was actually just strippin her down for bodywork and paint but thought it would be cool to weigh everything. After I drive it and feel the added pickup it might be hard to put it all back in though

Re: EJ1 Weight Reduction Info (H.crx-si)
My 93 EJ never came with A\C so it was one less thing to take out. I got rid of all the power steering parts except for the rack itself.
I plan on putting the cx manual rack(manual rack is apparently lighter than the power rack? i will see soon enough though) into my si come summer here in canada. I still have all the pump, lines, resevoir lying around i should weigh up for kicks. As well as the cruise control module and cable.
the inside is still fairly stock and all together...for now. i do have plans for that as well though .
