myth or fiction? about vtech
as i posted before bout " if my clutch or transmission problem", i had that problem with my car kicking bac at 4 rpms. well i was asking someone and he told me that from his friends car(prelude) that it would kick back at the rpm right before it hit vtech because the car would be low on oil and if it was the vtech would kick bac. so is this true --- the rpms/vtech will kick back if the car is low on oil?
- i did add some oil and the problem went away but....... might be random....

yeah im a lil confused wat i jus wrote let me see if i can rephrase- what i was told was--- if the car is really low on oil that the rpms will kick back around where the vtech would kick in. i mean i jus took his advice and added some oil and worked but i dont want to go by that.
i mean sounds like the vtech wont kick in because if it did that would mean higher oil pressure and if the car is low on oil than that would be bad so...maybe its something that jus kicks in....i never heard of something like that but he works at the dealership so ...not syaing he knows it all but..

first of all it is vtec.... no dash, no h at the end, just plain old vtec...(variable valve timing and lift electronic control)...
second, what kind of car do you have including the year model and trim...
third, what the guy told you is true. Being low on oil can cause vtec not to engage. A dirty screen filter on the vtec selenoid can also cause this problem. A selnoid is all that controls vtec and the oil pressure causes this selenoid to engage/disengage...being low on oil can affect the oil pressure in your motor which will not activate the vtec selenoid, or will engage it intermittently which sounds like what you are experiencing when in vtec....

for the love of honda, IT'S VTEC NOT VTECH
VTECH IS A PHONE COMPANY 2.8Ghz FTL
better spray it at the throttle body if you need to clean it up, if you spray it at the end of the intake it will all go down the water drain.
what does the cleaning of valve having anything ot do with your vtec/oil problem.
like the other said vtec will not engage if there's no enough oil pressure/oil and temp. there's certain conditions it must meet before the ecm will give it a go for launch.

i jus wanted to clean them for the hell of it. i know dont got nothing to do with the vtec , but figured might be a good idea....so to spray in the throttle body jus take the intake off and few sprays?
yes you could do that...there's some better products though to clean your motor...most people have had great luck with Seafoam Engine Cleaner...you put it in the gas tank, oil, and then directly into the motor while it's running...if there is anything in your engine that's not supposed to be, that stuff will get it out...it's easy to use, so you may give that a try...it'll also clean your oil passages (also the ones going to the vtec selenoid which may be your problem), so this may be your best bet...

use it as a throttle body cleaner but don't pour it in the gas tank or crank, the stuff probably have lube property next to water and your bearing will not like it.
the atf probably will lube and clean better than seafoam.
