Default My new exhaust that literally added over 70hp.

Well I bought a kteller exhaust kit a while back and a magnaflow muffler off of ebay around the same time and I finally got the chance to weld it up 2 weeks ago. Let me start off by saying I consider this exhaust custom since we did so much modifying to get it to fit just right. Anyway Im tuned on uberdata at 10psi and previously had a 2 1/4 airmass exhaust with a cat and resonator. Now I have nothing but 3 inches and a muffler. The day after the install I decided to see how she felt on the way to work so I give it a pull through 3rd and I'm just slammed into the seat. It felt like the hands of God came out of the sky and bitch slapped me forward. Needless to say I'm totally hyped about it and decide to do it again but this time watched the boost guage. We'll just say I got to 15psi and let off lol.....******* drag mani. So the exhaust did most likley add over 70hp...but in a bad way. Anyway here are some pics

We welded on the flex off my old srt exhaust onto the DP. It was the exact same diamter. I drilled holes so it would mate up to the 3 bolt exhaust flange. It'll be changed as soon as my 3 inch piping comes for a new DP

Nice fit

The *** end.

I didnt get to take any pics the night we did it and I know these pics arent the best. The exhaust doesnt mate up PERFECT to the bumper cut out but it doesnt bother me and if it starts to I'll trim the bumper a little. This is our first fab project and I'm pleased with it. This was done with a Hobart Handler 140 with solid wire and C25 gas. My friend Sean (ScErAxN on here) helped out a good bit so credit goes out to him as well.

nice, i went with the same exhaust but from a different company.

though i do think something is wrong with my car cause it really didnt feel much faster going from 2.25" crushbent to the mandrel bent 3" full exhaust i have now..

Tony1 better watch out...were coming up strong. Anyone can tig an exhaust on a nice table in a shop...but it takes a real man to mig an exhaust in the rocks and dirt

This was more of a bitch than i thought it would be. We had to modify so many things to get it to work, but we got it done none the less. It wouldnt have been so bad if we wouldve had more room between the linkage and the swaybar. We have like a 1/8th" between the exhaust and the sway...and maybe 1/4"-3/16" between the linkage and the exhaust. This wont be as big of a deal when Kteller gets off his *** and sends some piping so he can make his own dp Then we can position the dp where it wont be pulling the exhaust down. Drag dp It woulda been alot easier if we werent doing all this in rocks and dirt too.

When i was about to get in the shower that night i noticed something weird looking on my back. I looked closer and there were red dots all over the place...it looked like i had back herpes or something. Turns out that it was marks from laying in the gravel all day Ghetto-Fab FTMFW!!!

i had a customer with a crappy turbo kit with a 2inch dp going to a 2 inch exhaust... changed the exhaust to 3 inch and picked up 65hp on the dyno.. never dyno'd it after the 3 inch dp, but im sure it picked up another 25 at least. hell a cut out on a 3inch exh on another car picked up 30hp/30tq

I can believe that! On my old setup i was running a 2 1/2" dp to a 2 1/4" exhaust. When i opened my ghetto cut out(exhaust would blow off of the dp ) it felt like i had atleast 30-40 more hp. It almost felt like i was spraying when that happened

you guys are ******* lucky or im just ******* cursed.

my car runs fine no misfires or codes, 30+mpg on the highway

just slow for what it is, and i maybe gained 10hp TOPS going from a 2.25" crushbent exhaust to a full 3" mandrel bent exhaust and a 3" dp i built. sucks.

Well I'm sure it has something to do with your setup and how much boost you're running.

On another note, there are over 800 views now with just 7 replies with most being my and my friend hahaha. I guess I let everyone down when they saw where the car got it's power from.

I went from 360whp with a 2 1/2 inch downpipe to 398whp with a new 3" side exit downpipe.

I'm also running a drag manifold. I have a 1bar spring in my Tial wastegate and it creeps to 18psi.

Thats a hell of a gain!

Did you have creep before you put on the side exit? From what i saw, drews boost held perfectly steady at 10psi when he had the 2 1/4" exhaust on it. Now its creeping like hell(5+psi) with just the addition of the 3" exhaust. I dont wanna know what it would do with a 3" dp on there But this should be fixed when he makes the log mani because the wg will be properly placed! The funny thing is that ive read a couple posts where people claim to have no spike with the drag manifold...and a couple of them had 3" exhaust/dp and were running 15+psi. But they were all single cams so i dont know if theyre designed differently than the B series.

It creeped with the 2 1/2 because I was running open downpipe.

If that car was mine I would put a 6psi spring in it before I went to a log manifold.

I dont see why hed do that. Why try to control the creep when you can just eliminate it all togther? And im sure the log will flow just as well as the drag manifold. Not to mention that hell get full boost quicker on the log than he would with running a smaller spring and trying to control the creep with the drag. With the way youre recommending...itll most likely hit 6psi quickly then slowly creep up to his desired boost level. Id rather it just jump straight to the desired boost level. Although controlling the creep could be a good thing in the lower gears. It would be like those fancy boost controllers that slowly ramp the boost to help with traction

Where at in NC are you located?

maybe i am miss understanding, u toke off the cat and the resonator and got a big increase in power. ok if turbos don't like back pressure and u toke off the two things that make the most back pressure and u get a massive increase in power. i hate to say this, but i bet if u would have taken off the cat and resonator with the 2.25 it would have been the same feeling of increase.

He wouldve felt an increase if he wouldve removed the cat and resonator...but it wouldnt have been near the amount that he felt with the 3" exhaust. He felt such a large increase because opening up the exhaut flow also gave him creep. So he basically went from 2 1/4" on 10psi to 3" on 15+psi Besides...no matter what you do youll always get more power with a 3" exhaust versus 2 1/4" on a boosted application. Volume takes priority over velocity when it comes to an exhaust on a turbod car.

Besides...that cat was a joke. Its only around 10" long from flange to flange...and it had 6" of catalyst at the very most. Its probably 1/3rd the size of the stock cat and it had less cells than the stocker. I dont think that it was causing that much of a restriction. The 2 1/4"(OD) exhaust piping is what was causing the restriction.

I've never seen a log manifold make 400whp. A log can't flow as well as a Drag manifold.

Slowly creep? Not on my car. It will hold 6psi until you hit vtec. Once your in vtec, it won't be under 8psi.

Well his goal is only around 300 or a little more right now. If he wanting to get 400hp hes gonna buy something else(and i can assure you that it wont be another drag). And hes running a b18b...so if he has to wait for vtec for full boost hes screwed

BTW-There have been quite a few people on HT making mid to upper 300's on log manifolds...so it should be fine for his goals. Besides, he already has all the stuff to do it so he might as well go ahead with it

Oh I'm sorry I forgot

BTW I think something would be wrong if I honestly didnt gain 70hp going from a 2 1/4 exhaust to a free flowing 3 incher, plus going from 10psi to 15.
