Exhaust Manifold bolt / nut issue
A few days ago, I noticed a raspy noise when I cranked up the car. Popped open the hood, and looked at my exhaust manifold area (last time there was a nut missing) to see, and I could hear the exhaust seeping out.
I ordered some parts from Len up at Barn Acura. Exhaust gasket, 2 nuts on the lower part of the manifold ( figure I throw in some new nuts since I got a new gasket) and 7 new bolts to hold the manifold also.
Today, I look at the manifold just for the hell of it, and I noticed the nut is gone and with a closer inspection the rod / screw/ whatever that screws into the lower part of the cylinder head appears to have broken off.
My question is, will there be a problem getting the old one out and replacing it with a new one?
My other question is, which part number do I get?
I am providing pictures for you guys.
This is the part diagram. Do I get numbe 21 or 26?

Here is a right side picture. The nut is there

Here is a left side picture. The nut is gone

You want part # 21, the exhaust manifold stud. It may be difficult to get the snapped stud out of the head, it depends how far it's recessed. I've removed a snapped stud before using a bolt-out drill bit.
So part 21. I will get 2 then. Part 26 is for the intake manifold correct?
I just went and put my pinky finger on the exhaust to see if I feel the stud / rod/ screw and I feel the top part of it. So I guess I should NOT have an issue taking the broken one off right?

You'll need #21 exhaust stud. You might be ok if the stud is sticking out of the head with the header removed, get some vise grips or two nuts and back it out. If it is broken inside the head then you'll need an easy out or a mechanic who knows how to deal with broken fasters. Install is simply screwing the new stud in. If it leaks alot you could burn out the valve, I'd fix it ASAP!
Maybe if ur lucky it broke off with part of the stud outside the head, if thats the case either try threading two nuts on it or use some vice grips.

Yes part 26 is for the intake manifold.

thats something you don't want to risk, uneven pressure can cause more damage inthe long run and it should leak if one bolt is loose, if bolts are too tight and uneven, you'll stretch them and damage.. probably what happend in the first place.
and.. you never want to replace these studs with oem, and if you do.. get arp as replacement. they're grade 12 steel and should hold better.
