Default ZC ---- > EF DX ... NEED HELP FAST!! axles??..hood??

i am doing a swap to a ZC into an automatic DX EF ..
engine is IN and running good now

got few problems though..and i need help!!

HOOD DOESN't CLOSE!! WTF ?
is there a special hood for DOHC civics ? do we need an EF SIR hood ?ZC ??

then ..

WTF IS WRONG WITH THE AXLES!!

i was told to use Integra 1988-89 axles..and i already had the ZC with the intermediate shaft..

but the right one was short if 1" and i had to use a 89 Accord MT EX-I axle that fitted perfectly..

then used the integra Left axle..and when we ran with the car..the ****** stupid axle blew out!! ****..

looks like it was 1" too short too ..

so i need to know wich axle do we have to use with ZC in a 91 EF ???

by the way ...ZC in an EF pulls nice
that was before i had to push the ****** car for approx 1mile by foot to get back to the garage after the stupid axle blew out
eheheh
neway..

thanks guys

Just put some washers on the bolts for the driver's side engine mount to lower the motor some, then it will clear the hood. I got mine to clear with a little work.

As far as the hood goes, you could remove the insulation and cut out a little of the hood support and it should fit just fine.

My stock hood closes fine with my dohc zc

you have to use 90-91 teg axles with the zc halfshaft

ah ...
it's 90-91 teg axles ?

well i can confirm that for the right axle we can use Accord 89 MT right axle..
it fits perfectly in the tranny and in the wheel and it's perfect length...

i'll check out for 90-91 left axle ..
thanks .

for the hoood it doesn't close completly

well it tacks on the front thing..but one side touch the engine and is at lest 0.5" up form where it should be..

i'll try to lower the engine with the mount..maybe that would help

i know that it is the timin belt cover that hits the hood but if i remove it and the timing belt hits the hood that won't be a good scenario
eheh

i also have another quick question ..the ZC seems to have a sloppy start
like it almost stalls for 1 second when going from idle to 2-3K rpm ..
anyone expereienced that ?
find the cause ?

I use zc tranny/zc halfshaft/ 90-91 teg left & right axels at shannonville all day no probs

My timing belt cover has been rubbing the hood for 3 years with no probs, if you take it off nothing will happen the hood won't rub the belt

ok..the car left my garage tonight..

we simply removed the timing belt cover, and add 1/4" washers on the LH motor mount..though we still get a hood that looks more up on the driver side i think my friend will let it like this until he gets new hood holders..

for the rest everything went ok...except one thing

the engine is running weird
i can't tell yet if it's a engine problem or car problem ..
looks like it doesn't like to be a WOT ..
when i press the gas just slightly and pump it up..it revs smoothly
but when on WOT..it goes like it misses some fire or gaz or both ..and has no power at all
neway ..

we'll change the 1" civic exhaust first and change the really old spark plugs..
then we'll see

thanks guys for the help

My hood wouldn't close with my ZC till I put about 3 washers each between the drivers side mount halves. Now it clears with no interfearance. AND it still has the timing belt cover on it.

I saw a ZC that was installed by a shop. They cut a small notch out of the top of the timing cover, I mentioned it to him and he said that is all there is to it, it's just the very top of the cover that hits the hood, cut out a small rectangle and the hood closes fine.

Of course this isn't my car, I'm going by what the installer told me.

everybody is assuming you have a ZC tranny, but all you mentioned was that it was going into your AUTOMATIC civic. so all i can assume is that you kept the auto, and if that's the case, then you don't need to change your axles at all, use the stock automatic ones.

regarding the hood, my ZC's timing belt cover rubbed my hood for 3 years w/o any problems. i even ran without the cover and a CF hood, and it was fine. hood sat up a bit on driver side, but no biggie.

ahhah .. do you take me for a F00000 ?? ehhe

what i wanted to say is that the car WAS automatic..and we are now using the ZC tranny wich as an awsome short shifting action and a stupidly cool closed gears
eheh

so neway ..i used an accord 89 mt axle for th right one
and used the inside of the blowed up integra 88 one with an accord shat and the civic's end for the left one..works good..it's just a bit long ..

maybe the hood doesn't close good cause of the hood holders..
i'll see
