Need help ASAP..question about cooling hoses on H22 prelude
Hey,
On the prelude You guys know the hose that runs from the side of the head to the little black box mounted on the fire wall with the cable (like a throttle cable)---then there's another hose that curves and goes to the firewall?
If I remove the curved one, Is it okay to bypass the little black box (what is it?) by running the hose straight from the side of the head to the firewall?

no, but this seems kind of stupid and pointless
both of those hoses run to and from the heater core
the cable is linked to a lever which connected to another cable that is connected to the slider bar on your climate control face........this cable(the part in the engine bay) connects to a solenoid(it sits inline on one of the hoses) and opens and closes it when you slide from hot to cold
why would you want to bypass these lines?.......it's cold in VA

The hose that goes to the firewall has a hole in it, I was just wondering should I replace it or bypass it. I didn't know what it was for. However, I'm moving to FL next month.
the hose is like $10-$15
just replace it.....it will be baked on so you will probably have to cut it off
it was a pain in the *** when i replaced mine for the jdm climate control
i had to slit the hose with a knife and pry them loose with a flathead.....then used some petrolium jelly to slide the new ones on
you'll need some jack stands and a creeper for it not to be a total pain

Yep, I took it off tonight. I took awhile to get it off and yep I had to cut it and pry it off. I guess I'll just replace it in the morning. Thanks guys
