Default Possible to pull tranny without engine... b16

Is it possible to pull the tranny off without dropping the engine out with it? I have a B16 90 CRX. My sychros are shot and need to be replaced asap and I dont feel like dropping the whole motor right now. Would it be more of a hassle to do it without pulling the engine too?

Yes!!! however pre-warning for you... its a bitch!!!!!!

and a lot of effort!!!

your going to need to prop up the motor, because well your taking off two of the three mounts.. passenger and rear.. your going to need to dis assemble the strut mount, and make as much room as possible in the wheel well to manuever around in there, the axle is a bitch, and the car has to be high enough to get it out from the bottom... at an angle.. other than that ya man go for it...

Its not to bad I had to do it not long ago, just put a jack under the engine to hold it up, and have a friend around to help hold the tranny up. The hardest part was trying to get it back on, two jacks and two people is a big help there.

same here, did it about a week ago and it's pretty easy to take it out, getting back on is a bitch....... no room to move it around.

had a jack under the motor, next time i'd rather just pull the whole motor out.

Not to bad but I find it easier to just drop the whole motor saves some time and hassle...wish i could have convinced my friend to do so in his accord before we tried to just drop the tranny off...almost imposible to do it an accord or prelude, civic and integras are a lot easier but I just like having it out and not worrying about later thinking i should have just dropped it out...
