My UPDATED hesitation thread
Some of you may remember a thread that i started about 2 weeks ago regarding a very accute hesitation problem, read it here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1731874
So, i get fed up with my lack of time and tools, and took it to DCH Honda in Oxnard on monday. After they toy with it for about 3 hours, they give me a laundry list of things i need to replace. It included replacing the cap and rotor, plugs and i think the fuel filter. I didnt have them do this right then because i wanted to get in touch with my mechanic who's worked on this car for over 2 1/2 years. So, after i talk to the service guy, he tells me on the way out that they checked the oil and didnt get much on the stick, so they topped it off, plus they washed it for me for free as well
So fastforward to yesterday, cruising down 101, i decide to try vtec again and see what happens, if anything. I lay into it on an onramp and i notice that my car has completely returned to normal. It sure as hell wasnt the carwash that did it, so it must have been the oil. How could oil level have to do with the symptoms that i described in the other thread? And if it was because of the level to begin with, then how come my oil light didnt come on? None of it seems to make much sense. Honestly, i was beginning to think to myself that it was an ignition problem, since it smelt like unburnt fuel right after vtec engagement. Strange shat.
All i know is that my car runs great and that's all that really matters in the end lol.

Yes there is an oil pressure switch for vtec, so if you dont have proper oil pressure your car will not engage vtec to save it from itself. My only thought about your whole shabangabang is that maybe in the process of them inspecting, unplugging and plugging, checking and reassembeling that he corrected the problem which is bonus for you.
yeah man, i think im going to have to agree with you there. No codes, no lights, no nothin. Still runs great, and im still happy hehe
DON'T rely on the light it dosen't come on in my car till its a quart lower then the low mark, if not even lower then that.
I only know this because my main seal hopped off the seat and sprayed a trail for several miles till I saw the light flicker on at a stop sign. Who needs bread crumbs when you have an oil trail?
