Were there any USDM EK's that came equipped with the factory installed moonroof? I was always under the belief that it was never offered in the US but I have someone telling me that it was a "super rare" option and there are indeed some.

Anybody here have one or seen one? I never have. I consider myself to be somewhat knowledgeable but if I'm wrong on this one I'll be very surprised.

a friend had one, it was factory aftermarket installed. everything looked OEM but the button to open it. There was a thread about this back in 2002, i posted a pictures of it.

I have never seen an ek in the US that came with a factory moonroof. I have only seen the 92-95 si hatch with a moonroof that came stock straight from factory.

I have heard of some being installed "after the fact" but not from the factory which is what I'm trying to tell this guy. My brother wanted to order an EK back in '99 and he inquired with the dealer if he could order it with the roof and they steadfastly denied him.

 

factory sunroofs are available through some dealers. a few of my friends had a factory sunroof/moonroof installed with warranty from the Honda dealer for about $1000-1500 depending on dealer. i'm sure some dealers wouldn't want to perform this sort of task.

Correct but these are not factory installed, they are dealer installed.
A buddy of mine worked at AutoSound here locally and they did alot of this type of work but again, this is not a factory installed roof.

yea you are right they werent a FACTORY option but they were sometimes a DEALER option.

that's a dealer option not a factory one though. As far as i know there were no sunroofs in hatchbacks from a Honda factory and sold in the US.

 

i have actually seen one at a honda dealership in the used lot with one installed...pretty sure it was dealer installed because i compared the glass size/style with an EX and it was the same size and everything...i also saw the switch inside and it was oem

 

They are all aftermarket AFAIK.

i rember seeing one in canada that had a oem power hole.......... but that isnt usdm though .......... i wouldnt mind having an oem one installed in my ek but i guess they have to change out the hole roof skin ????? if anyone has done this or has any info on it i would like to see some

 

Yea I saw one EK with a sunroof on it. Back in 01-02 at a friends house, thier was a silver Ek hatch that a lady in he 50-60 drove down the street. One day I went to look at it and it was like those cheap aftermarket looking kind. With a Manual lock. It was ugly from the inside but looked nice from the outside.

I have seen a DX with a sunroof that came from the dealer with it. It wasnt factory but he had it done before he took the car out. It went under the insurance but thats it. It wasnt Honda My friend had a 2000 4 Door Dx and he said he paid more for a factory sunroof. He got a cheap one thou. The only thing about the EK I saw was that it was a cheap sunroof. The 4 DOors was all electric and came out like the Si moon roof (Em1)
The inside looked cheap thou not like the Si ones. You can see the plastic trim just folded over. Ill take some pics if I see him soon.
