Default JDM/USDM B18C5

i tried looking for threads on this. but just came up with a bunch of classified ads or nothing at all. i might not be using the right keywords.

but i was thinking of a b18c5 swap in my 94 db. now say for instance i went with the JDM motor, would it be smog legal for cali laws? or would it be best to stick with the USDM motor?

You can probably make a B18C smog legal with all of the B18C5 emission components (ie ECU, exhaust manifold, etc.). I am sure people have done it with the B18C if people have already done it with B16A.

I think everything on the JDM motor is smog legal except the header.

It shouldn't be a problem at all I wouldn't think.

A friend of mine put a JDM H22 in his prelude with a megen header.. He put a stock cat on it and it passed emissions w/ no problems. He went to get plates for it and the DMV registered it fine.

Keep in mind, this is in Ohio

As for oing JDM / USDM - you'll be hard pressed finding a USDM B18c5 in good condition! Get a JDM motor shipped over with less than 40k miles on it for less than 4 grand

yeah i'm not exactly sure how much work would need to be done, if any, when trying to get this swap to be smog legal in CALIFORNIA.

anybody in cali that's done this swap, please let me know how much work it takes.

also, people in cali that have done a K20 swap into the dc/db let me know as well.

my friend has a jdm b18 in his civic. you have to leave all the emmission on the car. leave the stock im assembly and stock header (USDM) replace the ecu with the jdm ecu or use a good chipped ecu. make it look USDM as you can. go to bar get it to pass once it pass you gotyourself a jdm motor legal then you can switch up the headers im assemly. have fun
