valve clearance
Is it dangerous to set the intake valve to 0.008 inch ?
My hondadealer did the adjustment couple weeks ago and he used the 0.006 inch feeler on the intake site
but since then I´m having idle problems when the engine is cold.
Problem is here in Germany we dont have those feelers in inch but mm and only in 0.05mm staggering.
So its kinda hard to set the valve clearance to like 0.19mm (0.007) when you only have either a 0.15mm or a 0.20 mm feeler.
Thats why I want to use the 0.20mm (0.008) for both, intake and exhaust
Is that ok on a i/h/e B18C6 ?

I never realized the measurements in the Helms were in inches?? I would have assumed mm.
anyway assuming everything else is ok, I dont think thats enough to cause any problems with idle. Ive adjusted valves before where they were WAY OFF spec and there werent any idle problems before correcting it.

Honda-technician "Soichiro's way" states in his R he sets clearances at .15mm intake and .20 exhaust....
I also set mine to these specs.
These specs will yield a little more topend...

I checked the Helms and it says .003-.005 for the intake cam. I was always told that it was .006-.007 also untill I checked it for myself.

I own a Helms as well.
and if I remember correctly people have burnt up valve tips who have adjusted too tight or when the engine was too hot.
