so i went to look at a 96' EX yesterday, the car was really nice, it drove well and the paint was new, the only problem we found with it was that the SRS airbag light was on red, not only that but one of the owners friends locked the keys in the car and broke into it, so the drivers side door lock is messed up and doesnt lock, now i really want this car and my dad is telling me not to buy it unless the seller fixes the problems, what i want to know is how much do you think it would cost to take this into a honda dealer and have them fix the problems?, i know its hard to say because there could be some complex problems but im just looking for an estimate. any help is appreciated

srs light is from the airbag. a new unit is $633.00. prolly just needs to be re-programmed. it could come from a cell phone sitting near the sensor unit thing and throwing the light.

couple hundred bucks. never know what needs to be done.

 

ok, so it really could be anywhere from a 100-700$ fix right?

what about the door lock?

maybe 100 on the locks. you never know, tell the owner to go get an estimate on repair.

 

yeah, were caling him tomorow, i think were gonna offer an "As-is" price or a price for the car with both Problems fixed. we'll see.

srs light can probably be rest, could be a blown fuse, and or the srs unit needs to be replaced.

 

SRS light cound be rest... By the tyellow jumper plug under the driverside of the dash.

if it's a bad air bag, you can close the circut with a 2.2ohm or 2ohm resistor. Make sure it's just a 2.2ohm or 2ohm, not 2k ohm or 2.2k ohm notice the K... just unhook the plug and jump the connection with the resistor and your set. Also the system will need to be rest...

Jump the srs connector plug under the dash, turn the ign to ign(II) do not start the car..
SRS light will go off disconnect the circut
SRS light will go back on, close the circut again untill the light goes back off. Open the circut once the light goes off. The SRS light will blink 2 times. Turn the ign to off, wait 10 seconds and then start the car.
