Default Built ZC In and Running.....

Well almost 2 years, I am almost finally done with that damn thing. I spent a few days on preping it and ended up putting it in last night. I was so nervious starting this thing up, I figured with my luck it wouldnt even run. But it fired over first crank. No chk engine lights, nothing. The cams are just a bitch to get to idle with the 450's, I will have to do some tunning today to see if I can clear it up.

As you can see I put the Mini-me turbo setup on this for temporary use. I sent back my T3/04e turbo to get a larger turbine housing from .48 to .63, also will be getting a larger wastegate Tial 35mm to 40mm. As soon as I break this thing in I will give it some boost, I have no charge lines hooked up at all. Running a nice short ram intake with a turbo, haha.

You can see I wrapped the Downpipe with some of that header/exhaust wrap stuff, I had it laying around so I figured I could throw it on their, yes the manifold looks stupid with it, but I am putting a headshield over it to cover it up.

Looks good. Congratulations on getting it running. Tell us a little more about the build up. What did you do to the top end?

Abaz, that is pretty nice. dude, I got 450's on my ZC and barely idle at 1k rpm. I think I have a vaccuum leak somewhere because my ZC wanted to idle at 2k rpm. I took some rubber hose and stuck it on the arm to the throttle cable and it brough the rpm down to 1k. I'm not bitching about right now but I am hoping that will work til I can find the leak. maybe I just need a TB gasket which I took off the other day. I just happened to switch to a much larger tb so that might be the case.

The head has been done for over a year, I ported it myself, and then had Crower do a race regrind on them. I am working with the Zdyne trying to get it to idle correctly, I have spent 2 hours today on my labtop, and got it somewhat better, Its just dog *** slow without any boost, especially when its trying to spool the turbo when running N/A!

Dont see that everyday, a Short ram intake on a Turbocharged ZC... hah, I dont trust myself with boost in break in period.

That **** looks like my b18a. I sand blasted my valve cover but now I'm going to go get it powder coated. May the boost be with you.

Here are a few more pics of my Built ZC..

The engine has been high temp painted with Por15 engine paint (bright alum)

Backside of the block, Stainless oil cooler lines.. oh and if you are wondering where the intake manifold support is, garbage..

The poor little d15b2 / Z6 Head.. mini me... what to do with this oil leaking pig. Every seal is leaking on it, cam/front and rear main seals. Maybe have it sit out at the barn for awhile.

I think that you did a good job on it, and by the looks of it you can tell.

Probably not a good idea to run the car like that, you'll overrev the turbo without a wastegate regulating shaft speed.

can you post a closer pic of the fuel pressure guage...and tell me what fitting you used to mount the guage that way on the fuel rail
-thanks

Hmm, last time I checked, my turbo was internally actuated...

Havent even taken it past 5 grand yet, but thanks for the advice

"can you post a closer pic of the fuel pressure guage"

I dont have any pics of it, basically its a -6an fitting 3 way splitter with a 1/8 fitting for the fuel pressure gauge, I got the gauge from B&M. I had to tap my fuel rail to fit the -an fitting in correctly. Using -an fittings is alot nicer then the restrictive Banjo bolts.

Yes, but there is no pressure source to open the wastegate, so it will overrev. Just don't get on the throttle.

Thanks for the thumbdown though, happy to help.

No pressure source? The compressor housing has enough pressure to open the gate, I can see it move when I rev it. Most factory turbos have nipples off the housings.

But thanks...

If your compressor outlet is open to the atmosphere, I guarantee you there is no pressure.

Bitch, dont make me prove you wrong, Do I have to bust out a vacuum/boost gauge and throw it on that nipple? The charge pipes run through my intercooler probably creating enough backpressure for the nipple to get some boost.

either or, I could careless, this turbo is a little peice of ****, so if for some reason I did over rev it it was already bad to begin with.

But thanks again, and maybe I will have to take that reading...

I don't care if you ruin your turbo. Have at it. I can't imagine that the flow restriction through your intercooler can cause enough pressure to open your wastegate.

But feel free to believe it yourself.
