So I just bought a new crx. It has a b16 swap in it. When it idles you can hear some sort of valve noise. Like a small clanking sound. Is there anyway to tell if its a bent valve or if it just needs to be adjusted? Also if it is bent how bad is it to drive on it?

 

If there was a bent valve you'd probably get low compression misfire. But if you just here a tapping noise, probably a valve adjustment should be done

 

If its pretty quiet keep in mind that it could also be normal honda valve train tapping , they arent very quiet you know. It could also just be your injectors tapping , also normal quiet sounds.

 

Well I'm not gettig mis fires at all. I'm not sure if it's normal though. I seems like its just loud enough to be a little off. If that makes any sence.

 

check ur compression...
do a valve adjustment...
could just be your old LMA

 

Most likely a valve adjustment, I had the same problem a few weeks ago. You would get a misfire with bent valves.

 

Why dont you just check the valve clearences, make sure there in spec.?
