Default Spark plug re-thread kit

I'm looking to get a spark plug re-thread kit for one plug hole on my civic engine. Some of you may have seen my other post about the stuck spark plug. Anyways, I got the plug out. I think I'll re-thread the hole as there is some damage near the bottom. Is there a certain kit that might be the best? Also is it a 14mm or 16mm kit that I would need? I have a D15B7 engine (I know it's not a powerful engine, but it's damn good mileage). I don't have my tools or spark plugs with me right now, so just wanted to ask about what width they are. Thanks.

If you take a stock spark plug to SEARS or any hardware store that sells tools, you'll be able to test different taps and dies until you find EXACTLY what you need. Rather than sit here doing nothing waiting for someone to hold your hand, just go to the store with a plug in-hand and make it happen, dude.

Also, I sure hope you're not planning on tapping that hole with the head still on the block...

Yeah, metal shavings are not an engine's friend.

It can be done with relative safety. Apply a heave grease to the tap and slowly work it down the hole back it out several times clean the threads reapply the grease. continue this until all the threads are re-tapped. It is not the preferred method but if done right no metal will get into the cylinder

I'm pretty sure the thread size is 12mm X 1.25. Get yourself a Helicoil kit from like NAPA or something. I did this for my tranny bolts and it worked great. Only thing is, I don't know how you're gonna get into the spark plugs holes with a tap since its so deep...

He'll have to take the head off and do it from the bottom.

Theres an expensive diffrence between relative saftey and absoloute saftey. I'd rather take the time to do it right and be sure than to do it half-assed and ruin a perfectly good engine.
