previous owner cut dimmer switch harness, i replaced but cluster lights still dont work, even replaced with different cluster. and changed the fuses with no luck

what might it be?

 

Try a new dimmer switch.

 

well if the purpose of the dimmer switch is to allow me to dim the lights, then running without the switch by attaching the two power lines should make it all come on at once and just not be dimmable right? i tried it like that without the switch and it wouldnt come on that way either
