Default Random misfired code

I have a 98 dx ek. I have the stock motor d16y7 with bolt ons and a y8 manifold. Ive been getting the random misfire codes and the 3rd and 4th cyl misfire codes. Now what i find funny is that i never really notice when it "misfires" (and im the type of person that noticed the difference in the way my car feels with a full tank of gas vs low on gas) I got a new cap and rotor and plugs im still throwing the code occasionally? Any other things I should check? Besides the code my motor feels strong and pulls nicely. Not sure what the next step should be

well i just had my car fixed because i was throwing codes: p1336, P0300-04. Basically that means all cylinder random misfires and the p1336 code was a crankshaft rpm sensor interuption. Come to find out, the wires for that sensor were rubbing against some belts and slowly rubbing away the connection. Got it fixed and no more codes...... and then my car got stolen 2 days later ..... should check that sensor tho, its on the drivers side of the engine near the timing belt cover.

a complete tune-up couldn't hurt.also do plug wires,fuel filter,air filter,etc.
have you reset the ECU to see if it comes back?

don't forget the plug wires too.they can cause all kinds of problems when they get old.basically, replace any service part you're overdue for.

if none of the regular maintanance fixes it then check your egr plenum. I have a 97 civic and it kept missfiring when in normal op. range and here the computer thought that it was recirculating exhaust fumes so it was running it lean enough to make it misfire. So I cleaned my plenum and haven't had any problems since. If you want to know how to do this then I can give you a detailed description if you wnat.
later,
robert

hello:

I want to tell everybody that my car used to have p0401 and ran fine, after I clean the egr port, I stupidly missed 3 ports which got stucked, I only cleaned 1 out of the 4 ports, and next day I started to car and drive, oh my god, my car is miss firing crazy, getting p0300 p0301 p0303 p1399 codes, I spent couple hours trying to find out what's wrong, changed all wires plugs even the whole dizzy, didn't help a thing, finally this afternoon I open the egr port cover and found out that I didn't clean the other 3 holes that got stucked, after I cleaned them, car runs perfect and even better than before cleanning the egr port!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to you all
