Default ticking noise coming from engine

well i notice when i go up a hill i notice this ticking sound coming from my engine. then when i would release the throttle a little bit it would go away but when i step on it it gets worse? what could this be? do i need a valve adjustment or something? this only happens uphills or a little uphill slope. engine is a d15b2 with almost 150k miles. lol and no im not swap it just yet. still waiting for the engine to die

Could just be that it needs a valve adjustment, but when I noticed mine was ticking, I listened all around the bay. It turns out it was just the injectors cycling, which is totally normal.

Could be low on oil. They tend to tick when they are a little low on oil.

use one step higher octane gas and see if it goes away.
If it does, then you are detonating and need to clean up your internals, if it doesn't help then you need valve help.
