Default Aynone know of a way to replace the plastic straw on ebay catchcans??

Ok so long story short- i have an ebay catchcan and there is a clear straw like "level indicator" tube on the side I need to replace. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? Would ace hardware or home depot have something like this?

Its 2 90* plastic elbows and a clear vinyl straw that goes between them:

it's just a 1/4" piece of plastic tubing. You can get that at any Parker store, or other hydraulic supply store.

bring the old one with you to match it up

what exactly are those black pieces? it looks like you could maybe just use some 90* hose fittings, some clear hose and clamps.

why does it need to be replaced anyways?

that looks like "swagelok" fittings, try industrial and hydraulic supply house, i get them for a couple bucks each and the line is .40 a foot, not totally clear though.

just take off the brass fittings and take them to your local Lowes or home depot. You can get some 90 degree nipple fittings and a tube to fit in the plumbing section.

i bought a universal can off summit a while back and made my own tube on the side from parts i bought at home depot

they look like macro line fittings. pull the lips of the connection against the fitting itself and pull the straw out.

^ thats what I tried and it ripped the seal there was some barbed metal thing around the fitting...

Anyway went to home depot and there were a few option- they actually had the connector elbows i needed but only in plastic so i just used 90* brass 1/8" npt to MIP connections with a vinyl tube and screw clamps, ended up pretty good!

d i know it looks ghetto thanks to my generous amount of jbweld but it works-

the drawback of the ebay catchcan is the actual inlets are 3/8" and then it reduces to barely any larger than a pentip where it actually enters the can. This is no good for breathing.

I used jbweld putty to block off the 2 ports and screwholes on the top of the can. Using a 1" holesaw bit (which was actually WAAY too big) I added 3 1/2" fittings to the can, 2 for the block breathers and 1 for a larger top breather. I then added the new straw which is just 2 90* 1/8" to 1/8" MIP elbows with a piece of 3/8" vinyl tubing between, and voila! improved catchcan!

I think im gonna buy another ebay one and try to "fix" it more cleanly but for now this works :-p
