Default Replace Trans only, or engine too??

Hey guys. Just bought an 01 Civic EX. The automatic transmission was bad in it, so I got a good deal. The car is absolutely beautiful. The bad.....it has 160K on it. My plan is to fix it and sell it most likely. Should I just replace the transmission and be done with it, or should I get a full drop out motor for it with low mileage? Cheapest I found a transmission was $750, and a full motor with trans for $1400. Which option would you choose? I wanna keep the budget as small as possible, but if putting a newer motor in her means more re-sale then it might be worth it.
Thanks

Since you are dealing with a small budget, I would go ahead and do both. Get it while you are in there.

But if you are willing to increase your budget a bit, go with a manual transmission swap.

And if you want to increase it even more, a K series swap would be in major order. Just up to you what you want to do with the car, and how much you want to spend.

He's going to fix it and sell it...So I would just replace the tranny and the engine if you can get a good deal on both.

if you're just going to turn around and sell it, i say replace the tranny, you'll save some money, and let the new owner worry about the mileage...

bad seller- lols, but you'll save like $800

hell if your willing to drop 1400 on a tranny and motor, go with a k20a3 or maybe even a k24a2.
