Default manual transmission

alright so i'm about a buy a 1996 integra ls. its an automatic and one of the first things i'm going to do is swap the tranny. i know you can use any b series transmission. should i just go with a b18b transmission or would i benifit using something like a b16a2 or b18c? i'm just going to turbo the b18b and tune it.

i would say stick with the ls tranny

just because you have an ls and a b16 wouldnt make much diffrence on a stock ls

ummm why are you going to buy an automatic and then swap to a manual right away? why not just buy a manual to begin with? unless you are getting ONE HELL OF A DEAL on the auto, it is not worth IMO.

I would also suggest getting a manual transmission car to start with. You'll end up spending way more money and time.

GSR TRANNY FTW !

grabs better and was designed for cars with more power so they take a little more abuse..
im sure someone will argue with me on this

Yep, I'd have to say, show me proof that it is internally stronger than a b16/type r transmission.

Plus, how exactly does it "grab better" ?

Yeh I was pretty sure people only used the term "Grabs better" when talking about a clutch or lsd...not the actual transmission as a whole.

unless it is a steal just keep waiting for what you want... not what you can convert for a lot of money. A five-speed swap is pricey.

If i buy a 4000 dollar car... 1000 more is quite a bit to me. The Op and my self are both younger than you and money is much harder to come by.

My point was just wait for what you want and save a grand.

Exactly. All you have to do is be patient and look for good deals. Ill be picking up all the necesary parts plus stuff thats not needed for 350. Minus the tranny.
