I doubt anyone here would have much experience mating R heads to GSR blocks, since most of their R heads came with R blocks.

The Head itself should bolt right up. The BLOCK itself is the same as the Type R Block... Just internals are different.

Now as for getting the IM and such to work in the Engine Bay...

The Wiring Harness will have to be ADJUSTED as well as the THROTTLE cable changed... I also believe the FUEL hose from the Filter will have to be changed... that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Throttle cable needs to be from an R along with the throttle body. A gsr tb/cable with rub the hood and have in the past caused the car to stick at WOT.. A good friend totaled his in this way.

If you bought the SKunk2 manifold for the GSR head, it will not fit the ITR head.

You will need a manifold for a PR3 head for it to fit.

you need a different ecu or you need to program it for the single stage IM.

I dont belive you need a new ECU or mod it. should be fine without touching ECU. Its just the secondary butterflry that wont be their no more.

You can run a Type R engine on a GSR ECU but it will not be efficient. I would recommend that once the SWAP is made that you get the car/ECU reprogramed and TUNED properly

Knowing this, I think you'd be better off keeping your GSR head and just swapping in the R valvetrain.

You will see a slight loss in compression by switching from a P72 to a PR3 head. If you are going through with this, you should strongly consider changing your pistons. Of course this drop in compression would be a benefit for turbo.
