Turbo Z6 in 92 sedan on pump gas - HP required for 12.5-12.9 et?
I've been out for quite awhile because of back surgery. The good news is that I've done a pile of research on "how-to" design what I want to do. I just don't have a goal whp figure to take my theoretical numbers into the real world numbers I need. I searched for "pump gas" and got zero results. Most of the examples of 1/4 mile times were of stripped hatches.
My goal is high 12's with a turbo Z6 in a fully dressed sedan. I'd like to do it on pump gas, but I'm not sure if I can achieve the whp I need... mostly because I don't know what whp I *do* need. With the engine characteristics of the Z6, what is a ballpark whp number that I should be designing for? Is using pump gas a realistic goal for that whp level? I know anything is possible, but it will be built in my garage, not in the pages of a magazine.
I'm confident I can choose the correct parts for the engine & tranny for my needs. So I don't need feedback on rods/turbo/lsd/tuning selection. I do need feedback on what "miscellaneous" upgrades would be necessary though. Any experience on breaking axles and such at my build level would be appreciated.
Thanks guys. If I need to be more precise on anything, let me know what you need to help.

I have a full weight sedan also..and a d-series motor lol...i run a t3/t4 57 trim at 15psi on slicks (22's) with a z6 tranny with obx lsd. that being said at 15psi ive ran 12.8-12.9...on 20psi i ran 12.4-5's on 23psi i ran 11.9 and on 25psi i ran 11.5
hope that helps ya...all this and full weight...i run 93 pump gas up to 20psi and then its race gas after that...

i dont know thats why i didnt say...if i had to guestamate i would say 280-300 at 15psi and prolly 340-360 at 20psi...thats just judging from my trap speeds on those runs...
That helps quite a bit. I checked out fast2camcivs' post about going over 400 hp and found some good info in peoples sigs/posts.
** Sedan - 11.5@124 - 405 whp 315 ftlbs
** Coupe w/stock D16Z6 - 230whp/208wtq - 12.6 @ 107 mph
** Unknown chassis - 15lbs of boost ~355whp - 12.3 @ 118 mph (2.0 60')
** Hatch - 250 whp and 251 wtq @ 10 psi 12.8 @108
I had "350" in my head and judging from the numbers above, that should be plenty adequate. I'll aim for 350.
Thanks guys. I'm off to crunch numbers.

yea we deff have the disadvantage of lugging around a couple extra doors lol!
ive weighed my car and it weighs 2540 without me in it....im just over 2700lbs race weight...so consider that a hatch is around 500lbs lighter (your average gutted street raceer style hatch lol) so its going to take you a good 50-60 more hp to do what those guys do just cause were full weight and gangsta like that lol!
anywyas 350 will be plenty for ya good luck!

im just about 2700 with me in it at the track. my best run was a 12.54@115.5mph. i should be making just about 325-335whp
