Default how much does a melted cat affect performance

hello guys
we had a friends car on the dyno and it made **** power. we found out that the catalytic converter melted. at idle the was barely any exhaust pressure comn out (i know at idle it is low but im tokn much lower than that)
the car is idling ike it struggling to breath and its sounds like a dog

we pulled the cat off and it was completely melted.
i wanna know if anyone has come across this and how much was the performance affected.

Probably about the same amount as a banana in the tail pipe.

it would depend on how bad it were melted, i would say it could easily cut your power in half if it was signifigantly melted. exuhaust wouldnt be able to escape from the cylinder, so it would create a pumping loss, as well as diluting your a/f mixture that is entering the cylinder.

its still idling like a dog but we hit the dyno on saturday ill let u know.
theres a few things that needs to be changed for the final dyno session.
ie. i found out that the timing wasnt set. we retarded the dizzy all the way as a precaution to stop the pinging. and the tuner was suppose to set the timing but he didnt.
