Pulling tranny
Well, I think the clutch just went to hell in my car tonight, so how much of a pain in the *** is it to pull the tranny out of EF with a D16? I've pretty much never touched an import before so this could get ugly. What are your recommendations?

Yeah, since it is your first time, do some research. You might encounter some road blocks on the way but make sure u do everything right and dont half *** it. This is your first time so it will be a good learning experience and it will most likely take u all day
but its way better then paying someone to do it.

You might think I'm crazy....
But you will find it 1000X easier if you remove the engine & tranny together,
and install the clutch outside the vehicle.
Piece of cake!

ok, so now I'm pretty sure it's the input shaft...I believe I read somewhere that it's a common problem, is this correct? Anyone have some better info about this, or hell, maybe a new tranny I could pick up for cheap?
if youve not pulled the tranny before, its actually not fun and can be very tricky and time consuming. it of course gets easier the more you do it, but the first time is always a bitch.
if you need to replace your input shaft bearing too, then thats a whole extra operation of opening the tranny. just my opinion, if you had to do all this and put it back together, if everything goes well, youre still looking at a whole 2 day weekend worth of work.

i have changed a clutch with the engine still in the car and with it out....in is a lot harder and takes a lot longer. take it out and be sure to replace throw out bearing and cv joint seals at the same time. that just my opinion.

Just get a Helms or Chiltons and go to town. Don't try it without one if it's ur 1st time. I still need to refer to mine fairly often.

my GF bought one for me at a.a. parts. They're at barnes and noble too.
Also, ball joints tend to be a common point of frustration. check my project thread, i posted a link on the 1st post for a how-to that is easy as hell.
