Default RELIABILITY of stock internals

I have a D16Z6 engine (140k miles) with a CAI, header, and a cat-back exhaust. I was just wondering how much hp the stock internals can handle before replacing the pistons, rods, crank, etc.

I want to install a 35 to 55 wet or dry shot of nitrous (not direct port). Do you think the internals will hold up?

I am pretty sure the D16Z6 has 125 hp stock. With all of my mods so far I figure I have 162 hp AT THE MOST (it would be around 217 with a 55 shot). Do you think my engine would hold up if I used higher octane fuel?

I have checked the spark plugs for any signs of pre-ignition or detonation, and so far everything seems to be running well.

ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CALCULATE WHP FROM HP

How much hp do you think I have currently with the CAi, header, and cat-back?

With i/h/e, you're looking at around 110-116whp. If you really want to know how much hp your car is putting down, then you should have it dyno'd.

Thnx, I plan on hving it dyno'd soon, but I was going to put on the NOS kit (55 shot) and take it to the track this wknd, and i won't have enough time to take it to a shop to get it dyno'd.

I just wnted to know if it would hold up for now.

you'll be fine...my sohc vtec engines y7/y8,y8, and z6 all handled a 75 shot along with bolt-ons a the bullfrog cam. Was very strong...you must watch your engine temp though cause it rises quickly.

i think you'll be fine...just know when to spray and when know to spray...your internals should last a bit but i'm sure in time something is bound to break...

thnx, I was reading another thread and someone said that the D series should handle up to 200+ whp

if that is the case i will just worry about keeping the engine cool; upgrade to aftermarket radiator should do it?

you lose i think 15-20% or flywheel horsepower to the wheels so if 100 at the crank then like 80 at the wheels roughly....correct me if i am wrong

yes about a 20% loss. hence the 125 hp at the crank with 20 % loss is 100 hp. Now with I/H/E your looking at about 110 hp maybe more maybe less but not much more.
