Default 1.6 vtec head on 1.5 block?

This post is still alive somwhere else but I dont feel like reviving it.

A while back my friend crashed his 95 Del Sol, hes parting it out and since I have a rex he said hed give me alot of stuff for really cheap. I dont want his whole engine, but I was thinking about getting his head. Will this work on a 1.5 non-vtec block...I assume it would

What is all involved??? and what should I get from him? His ECU intake manifold, harness, distributor? those things

Yes it will get his head + gasket + ECU and . Is your car wired for PGMFI??? I dont think it is so you 'll need to do a PGMFI swap first. So you need fuel rail Injectors resitor box wiring harness distributor plugs etc. to much to list do a search

NO I forgot to mention it is a DX so yes I have DPFI....I already knew about the rewiring though

Can you tell me what is involved in the swap? like what should I be prepared for drilling adn such wise?

well me and my friend will be doing this swap on his DX very soon cause his is burning oil.. anyways:

So after you wire up for PGMFI so you have a:
Si intake
Si resistor box
Si injectors

Si setup only a 1.5 L

Then you take off the old head and pop on the new one using a 92-95 VTEC head gasket.

I believe ther is about 3 wires you have to splice and you need a VTEC controller or a RPM activated switch inorder for your VTEC solenoid to kick in.

Set it at 5200-5700 RPM cause thats the best time any lower you bog any higher you are wasting itme etc...

fuel rail is the thing with the injectors attached to it, resistor box is the little grey box having a heat sink on it with some black and yellow wire comming out of it, it's situated on the right corner of the engine bay, it's also relied to the injector.
hope this help
see ya

if you don't already know...obd1 injectors will not work with the 4th gen Si ECU since you are using the resistor box...keep the 4th gen Si injectors if you are using the 5gen Si intake manifold

man if yer gonna do it, do it right, right? you didn't mention what engine the del sol has. im assuming you mean he has a '95 d16z6 (sohc vtec). if that is the case..i would do this. find a d16a6 (88-91 civic/crx si) shortblock somewhere. its better than the d15 that is in yours, and your d15 is prolly tired anyway. there's no way it should cost you over $150 for the entire shortblock. get d16a1 (88-89 integra) pistons. have the valve reliefs on the pistons on both sides bridged so that the vtec valves won't hit the piston tops. get new d16a1 piston rings. put the pistons on the rods, hone the a6 block out, put pistons in block. get new bearings too..main and rods. use arp rod bolts. get the crank and whole rotating assembly balanced at a shop. in fact have them do all that work for you while yer still driving the d15 in your crx. get a d16y8 (96-00 civic vtec) headgasket (thinnest oem headgasket - bumps compression), get d16y8 intake manifold (same design as the type-r intake mani for b-series). put sensors on intake mani, and get a b-series (any b-series) throttle body and put that on there (bigger than any d-series - more air flow). and then chip an ecu so you can rev that thing. if u wanted to then u could put new aggressive cams and valvetrain in the head, get a vafc for tuning, adj cam gear, fpr, and have fun rev'ing your bad *** sohc. peace.

lol..I know what a fuel rail and injectors are but ive never even thought about looking into the resister box..thanx for the replies.

The odd part is I have my friends del sol si (sohc vtec) to part out, and my friend just wrecked his 90 crx si (actually he sold it and the kid wrecked it so my friend bought it back) to part out.

But even with all this I have....it will get to expensive, and I know I could get more power for cheaper with a ZC which is what I had planned on I just wanted some info about the mini me swap. thanx alot guys really appreciate it.
