Default bent traction bar & replacement

i hacked up the old bar to make the new one, but you can see the nice bow left in the 1" square tube after one autocross session. the tires were rubbing the backs of the fender liners under hard braking.

i don't expect the new one to bend... i've added the two support arms to the stock crossmember bolt holes. at the very least, i've learned how not to make a traction bar and i've learned that my welds are strong enough to take some serious abuse and not show any signs of failure.

well thats what i thought but generally you anodize aluminum and i figured that the bars were made out of steel

just a spray bomb. primer, then paint. the paint kinda has a little bit of metal flake in it or something. it turned out not too bad. everything is mild steel on this one, as was the first.

i think you may have clearance issues on the header and radiator like i did. so i had to redesign mine from a stright bar like yours to a design with a kick in it, like what you see here on mine...

if you have questions just ask, but nice job too! and i like the extra support bars on the ends!

this is the 5th traction bar i've made for the car, i've sold past ones. don't think there will be an issue with clearances... trust me, this setup has been well thought out. these pics will give you an idea of where the bent one ran:

Looks almost identical to the JK Motorsports design.
