What a coinkidink. I just put on an Ebay $35 rear upper bar today. I preloaded it, so it's teeny welds are probably gonna snap soon.

How do you preload the strut bar.

I got a f/r cheapies from groupbuycenter for $40 shipped each. My front is Pilot and my rear is Air dynamics, but they look exactly the same.

How do you preload the strut bar.
1) raise car depending front or rear

2) tighten till you cannot tighten any longer

3) lower car

which reminds me, Dave we must find a shop that can wild the points that have not been weilded, i might as well get spherical bearing bar ends so the existing ends dont break, and i might as well take my rear mount out and have the insided weilded as well

Oh IC, I may have done that to the front cause we did my spring/struts at the same time. My rear I did with the tires on the ground.

I assume preloading is better, but can possibly break under high stress?

I have heard stories of breaking, but never seen it myself. Some bars definately do not look as tough as others.
I don't think there is a final word on if preloading is desirable or not. On my front, I was able to take out a few threads of slack with the front raised vs. not raised.

For 98 accord you can get Neuspeed right now for $80 at groupbuycenter.com or you can get a cheap one for $34 at http://www.autodynamic.com..
