Default Is there a High flow muffler that won't get me pulled over?

I have paid for 2 or 3 exhaust tickets, not to mention countless times have been pulled over simply because of my exhaust (which has not cat, just a resinator) and is 2.5".

I don't want to restrict the exhaust to much, but I just got pulled over and got a fix it ticket about 75 miles before my auto tensioner broke on the motor.

What kind of muffler is everyone running? I don't care about anything aside from DB levels and price.

Thanks for the help!

Well to be honest I was hoping to not spend a lot of money, I just spent
3K on school
1200 on rent
600 fixing my car
300 on a boundary waters trip
500 on a trip to AZ

and I still need to fix the exhaust before I get pulled over again and they say that I signed a peice of paper saying I got it fixed.

and I would love to hit up the meet, u have a link to the thread?

I've never heard of the rsr exmag, any info/place to get it?

I guess I should have asked if anyone knew a cheap way out?

i think the cat is whats making your exhaust so loud. and i just read a thread on here somewhere that compared an oem cat, high flow cat, and a test pipe and the test pipe only made like 3 hp more than the oem test pipe. if i were you i would just throw on the oem cat again. its a free mod (assuming you still have the cat) and will greatly reduce your db levels.

i have an oem cat, oem b pipe, and a spoon axle-back and it is much quieter than a greddy evo cat-back (when cruising, if you go WOT then the spoon is amazingly loud), sounds better IMO, and flows better IMO, and it isn't a huge muffler so it doesn't get attention like my greddy used to.

been pulled over a lot of times with my greddy sp but never gotten a ticket. i have the greddy legal paper saying its under 95db. apparently, i changed my exhaust back to stock now. im tired of getting pulled over. i wanted to get rsr exmag but ill just stick to stock exhaust.

the lack of a catalytic is doing 2 things:
1) unnecessarily polluting our earth
2) making your exhaust louder

a high flow cat would do 2 things also
1) keep our atmosphere cleaner
2) quite down your exhaust

the hp loss through a high flow cat is ridiculously low

Yea man exhaust tickets suck. If your looking for quiet without restriction buy a greddy sp2 or a tanabe smh exhaust. I had a greddy sp2 on my crx that I used to have and the quality could not be beaten, excelent tig welded stainless steel piping, it did ot rust or corrode at all, it was quiet enough not to draw attention but it still maintained a deep agressive tone. Ive installed tanabe smh and greddy evo 2 exhaust systems on peoples cars at the shop I work in and they are pretty damn quiet and flow good too. The tanabe smh and apex'i ws/ ws2 are almost as quiet as stock yet they offer great exhaust flow. The rsr ex mag is quiet too, basically just stay away from any n1 style muffler. Removing your stock cat doesnt really add that much more power. There was an integra gsr in my shop that we ran on the dyno with a megan test pipe. It only gained 2.1hp over stock and the magnaflow high flow cat gained 1hp over stock. If you want a good balance between legal and performance a high flow cat and any of the exhausts I mentioned except for the n1 style exhaust should serve you well.

My friend is running a WS2 on a cat-less Se-r Spec v (he dumped the cats because they have been proven to suck into the motor and create scarring). The car is so quiet compared to what he had (header w/ no cat and stock behind that) not to mention wake up a few more horses. Still smells like @ss when i am driving behind him though.

Whats with 95 Db, is that the legal limit or something? I was told by every cop that it can't be louder than stock, which I think is complete bullshit, especially when you hear a Harley Davidson driving past you. They certainly NEVER get pulled over for loud exhausts

(sweet bike though )

I think I will try to find a stock muffler and just slap that sucker on it. I basically just need the cheapest fix possible. Anyone have a stock muffler sitting around?
Thanks for all the info, very informative!
