I have a 1996 civic lx
with a D16Y8 head and manifold And ECU (P2P obd 2)
I coverted my 3 wire to 2 wire iac fix.
also plumbed in the FITV and IAC properly.
now i have a cel (Knock Sensor) cause i havnt added one yet.
also when I first start the car idle gets low and car tries to die. after a while or driving its okay. but the rpms in gears isnt smooth, lacks power at low RPM.
its surgy while driving. FITV?? IACV???
help!

 

Surging = vacuum leak.

You car feels like absolute **** because you don't have a knock sensor wired in. Believe me, I went through this when I did my mini me.

 

is there another knock sensor other than honda I can wire in?
would that cause a weird power band?
seems like it lacks power then it kicks

any ripped hoses? Is the intake manifold properly torqued down? Did you use a new gasket....?

A vacuum leak could be the culprit of your "weird powerband", but it could also be a number of other things.

 

Well you guys got me thinking so i tore it apart.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
guess what... lol no word of a lie. Spider webs and dead bugs. The TB sat in an old barn for a year and spiders crawled up in there and made nests inside the FITV.
WTF lol
well took it all apart and cleaned it. adjusted my thottle plate. also fixed my knock sensor. All seems fine.
