Over 30K miles on my RE010
I just recently broke 30,000 miles on the original RE010 tires that came on my car when I bought it new. They're not quite ready for replacement yet, but they're getting very, very close. I replace street tires when the treadwear indicator bars are flat across the width of the tread, which happens at 2/32" of tread depth. Some of the tires have the bars flat for part of the tread width but not all of it, and others are not quite there yet but close (probably less than 3/32" though).
Oh, one qualifier: Only three of my tires lasted that long. I got a flat in one (due to puncture) at over 29K miles, and I decided it wasn't worth paying to fix the flat for what little treadlife remains.
Why do I think that mine last longer than other people have noted? I can only guess at a few of the reasons: I check my pressures regularly (and set them to the recommended 35F/33R). I rotate the tires regularly (thanks to track use, where I use track tires but always put them back with the tires with more tread going on the front). I probably don't drive as aggressively on the street as some folks, since I tend to save my aggressive driving for the track (although 241 of those 30K+ miles were track miles). I suspect the biggest reason, though, is that not everyone drives the tires down to 2/32" of tread before replacing them.
Unabashed self-promotion: If you're looking for a set that's almost new, see sig.

not too shabby, especially with 241 track miles on them!
I never got a chance to drive on the stock tires. Ive always wanted to see what they feel like. I imagine turn in and response is crisp, especially compared to 205/50 sized tires.
Did you make any alignment adjustments along the way that might have helped/hurt the tire life?

probably because less than 2mm of tread is not only extremely dangerous, but if you were the get pulled up in England, 3 points on your license for each tyre of that depth
when you receive 12 points you are banned

I had an alignment at one point; one of the tires was wearing excessively along the inside edge. It turned out that there was a camber problem (they had to install a camber kit on that corner of the car - good thing it was at Acura of Brookfield, which keeps 'em in stock). Other than that, no, just keeping the stock alignment settings.

In the States, it's illegal to drive on tires with less than 2/32" (1.6 mm) of tread, but they usually just give you an equipment citation. Only moving violations count against your driver's license. At least, that's the way it works in most states; I don't know if there are any exceptions. (The 2/32" tread is a DOT standard, at the federal - nationwide - level, but driver's license regulations are set at the state level, and can vary among the 50 states.)

Which Toyos? I'm surprised if you only got that few miles from any of their street tires. But if you're using the RA-1 track tire on the street, that's actually more than I would expect.

They're actually just fine in the rain when they have plenty of tread depth. They only get dicey when the tread gets worn down. Same as most tires.

unfortuantely it isn't bone dry in england year round. so all it needs is one numpty on bald tyres, on all 4 corners, or even just the fronts, on a motorway at 70mph, stand on the brakes, slide, and results in death.
i think its a just punishment for putting life at risk?

You need to check your alignment settings if so is the case or stop doing burnouts

i got +30k miles on my re010's as well ken. and had i rotated more religiously and flip-flopped them every so often, i might have been able to get another 30k miles.
but those tires had never seen hard driving. off the track with those tires, i drove like a grandma!
...probably still do...
i pretty much throw out the mileage rating when i buy tires since i'm easy on the car.
