Default OVERHEATING

I have a 1986 CRX Si that will heat up fast while driving and wont over heat just sitting and idleing. it seems like every three or four miles been driven the engine gets hot and temp rises close to H. When that happens i Just pull over and wait till it cools. Then got home and parked it. I changed the water pump, thermostat, radiator cap and adjusted the timing to correct specs. I need help diagnose'n this problem. MY next step was to buy another radiator. But before i do i needed to hit you folks up for advice. This cars been sitting for two years. when i bought it i changed all fluids. My head gasket has shown no symptoms as far as white smoke or coolant in the oil or even dissappearing coolant. Im thinking and hoping its not that and i hope its just my radiator. Any test that i can do without spending a bunch of cash can help out...please advise

Try getting the radiator and motor back flushed its quite possible on a car that has been sitting for something to get plugged.

Bump for you, I'm having a similar problem as far as driving heating up and stopping cooling down. I haven't really done anything yet as i didnt have time, but I plan to flush out the system this weekend.

Keep me posted, I may have a similar problem overall.

I stand corrected, I bled the system, and at first everything was fine, then problem came back. So i did it again, and I got the same problem this morning.

Thanks Peeps...after flushing the cooling system and replacing the water pump, thermostat, radiator cap and tested the sensor, i found the radiator to be clogged up! but now after driving it for about a week i found that i also have a leak in my head gasket i suppose. I discovered little drops of oil in my NEW radiator coolant and coolant in my radiator. No white smoke yet but i tend to believe that its a minor leak so far leading to major work so its parked for now until i pull the head out to see what the problem is. Sounds right about the head gasket huh?

i would suggest you change your head gasket. my ZC ran like that and it very fast went real bad. so I would change the head gasket out. I didn't have white smoke but i did have oil smoke. so yeah. just my 2 cents
