im having trouble starting my 93 cx hatchback. it will start, it just has trouble. i try to start it with the egnition and it is about to start, then feels like its going to die. so i give it gas at this point and a whole bunch of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. it kinda boggs a little bit before i give it gas..then i give it the gas for the five seconds and it starts and everything is normal. does anyone know what is wrong or have ne ideas? im guessing fuel pump or spark plugs, havent checked the plugs yet, but if you guys know of these symptoms, lmk. thanks

check your plugs, they will tell you what's going on. you can change the pcv valve, sometimes they act up like that when they are clogged and it's only $3. but the plugs should tell you what's going on.

sounds like a headgasket problem. i forgot how to do that pressure test to check to see where you can hear the air is at... but once you know where the air is coming from you know what system to look for. someone should know what that pressure test is...

oo, yea, not too sure what the pressure test is, but im hoping on the three dollar pcv valve. but its a problem with starting, smoke doesnt come out all the time, and i assume, if it was a head gasket problem, the car wouldnt run or run properly. once it starts it works perfect.

so i took it to the shop, and they figure its the head gasket...is there any DIY on how to change the head gasket? i need instructions cause i would rather do it myself. i tried searching, and maybe i didnt search hard enough but if anyone has a link, that wold be great. thank you.
also you have to check the head to see if it is warped?? if you just slap a head gasket in and then just bolt it up, its going to do the samething and you just wasted your money. as for the link i don't know the link i'll try to search on the weekdays. good luck!
