Default Blaster SS Coil Blew Up

so when i swapped my H23 for a JDM H22, i picked up Blaster SS coil and an External Coil Cap......

so I was gunning it from a toll booth and burp...... the car just dies after 4k rpm.

it cranked and cranked and i had fuel but there was nothing.... then a bit of electrical burning smoke came from under the hood........

got a tow and pop the hood..... allmost threw up from the burnt electrical smell.....

unscrewed the coil and the bottom 20% of the coil had turned to a liquid the consitancy of honey........

no big deal, coils are only 45 bucks or so.... but has this happened to anyone else? do coils just go bad? or maybe im shorting something.... the coil ran fine for about 2-3 months before it blew......

IMO leave the stock setup alone, there is little to no advantage of using an aftermarket coil until you have problems with the ignition breaking up at a certrain hp level- put it back to stock ive heard of to many people having to many problems with aftermarket ingnition on ludes-

Why are MSD products so unreliable in import cars? I always thought MSD was high quality for the V8 boys. They swear by MSD don't they?

lol

i hate msd crap, the only good stuff they make is spark wires, and they even have a flaw, they pop off the distributor randomly....

Yep, MSD is crap on a Honda. Stay with stock until you make enough power that you absolutely have to upgrade.
