Use the H23a distributor. Did you hook up the external coil?

Ok, let's run through a few checks first:

1) Is this the first time trying to start the car?

2) Check for fuel pressure.

3) Check for compression.

You need 3 things to get an engine working: Spark, Fuel, Compression.

yes first time trying to start it

the engine is getting fuel

did not check compression yet, but the engine came from a good source...

Is it throwing any check engine lights yet? Also, what ECU are you running?

i believe the check engine light will come on when you turn the key to "ON", didn't notice if it stays light while cranking...

The engine was suppose to come with an ECU, but it was missing... so the company sent another one, and they state that it has been test and works... not sure on which one it is... did not see it stamped anywhere on it

The CEL will come on for a few seconds, then turn off if there are no codes. If it stays on, you'll need to pull the codes.

Secondly, is there a barcode sticker on the ecu? If so, you should be able to decipher what kind of ecu it is, there should be a "P13" in the numbers.

Also, did you use your stock wiring harness? Double check the connectors and make sure you didn't accidently plug in the wrong sensor. And did you wire up the two VTEC wires and IAB yet?

i did the same sway... H23si to JDM H22a

however i got the MSD external coil cap + a blaster SS coil..... if you are spending the money on the swap, may as well shell out another 65 bucks for those ignition parts.... made my life easy.

i was looking on the ecu for the code, i remember ther bar code, and i was looking for a P13 but didn't see it, i will check again...

no i have not hooked up those wires yet, i was told that it would make it not start though, unless i got some false info...

For the sake of troubleshooting, go ahead and hook EVERYTHING up before starting it.

ok so i got it started... i had to connect the black and yellow/black wires together where the external coil used to plug in... starts up and idles fine, put it in time.

Now it will hit the REV limiter at 3,000 no matter what...

But first things first, i know where the 3 wires for the VTEC go on the ECU, but was unsure about the IAB, i know where the pink wire goes but what about the other... ground?

Waste of money on a stock motor.

Are these the same ones you used on your h23, if so, it should work with them.

You need to find out for sure which ecu you're running.

Tell us the #'s stamped on the side, the middle three should say which
computer it is.

Have you tried using the p14 ecu just to see if it will work
with the external dizzy?
