Shifting into first (searched but no luck)
think about what speed youre going....then think about what rpm the car would be at in that gear...clutch in...rev to that rpm...down shift...release clutch
youll get no unecessary jerkiness and your clutch wont get worn because youre relying on it to bring the engines speed up to the wheels speed....then ppl wonder where their clutch went

Thanks for the tip I'll try it <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by PatrickGSR94 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I can shift to 1st just fine when rolling as long as I blip the throttle first. Slips right in.

i dunno . i dont really downshift to slow down anymore. i downshift to race dont get me wrong. haha . other than that. its the 4 disc brake conversion
Hmmm..I asked this question a while ago and most of the responses I got was that it's normal, but now people are saying they can shift while the car is moving, but I have the same problem I have to be at a stop to shift or I have to force it in, I rarely downshift too, I dislike high rpms

its normal for all cars to have a low speed first, its designed as a lock out so noobs to stick wont down shift into first when there in 3rd or something. Its also for the same reason that you cant shift into reverse when your in any gear over 3, sometimes not even from 2.
My question is, why would you want to down shift into first anyway? if your in a parking lot or something, its low speed, so it shouldent be a problem.

DC's came factory 4 wheel disc, and i'm pretty sure all DA's did as well.

hole , air getting into clutch. ... bleeeeed the clutch with two people, someone bleed it and you pump it. make sure you have brake fluid... or trans. fluid.
I do a lot of city driving that's why, 1st is usually a
at /as soon as a light turns red.(approachign it)..
Also does AC change the clutch engagement?
I'm beggining to feel it does

air conditioner changing clutch engagement? That would be a no, the two systems are not related in any way. But when the A/C is on, there is more drag on the engine, so between shifts the RPM will drop quicker. If you're not fast enough on the shift, the RPM will drop too low and the engine will actually jerk the RPM back up when you engage the clutch. If you're referring to it feeling jerky when shifting with the A/C on, that's what you're feeling. It's really bad on mine with my 7.5 lb. flywheel, but I live with it, and just try to be quick on the shifts.
Sometimes I will approach a light, or slow down for some other reason, but then need to start going again before actually stopping. I'm going too slow for 2nd gear, so to get into 1st gear I will have to blip the throttle a bit.

It feels as if the rpm's are too low with the AC on and I've stalled 2 times so far with it on?
I usually hit th button off before the red

your not suppose to go into first while rolling over 5mph, go to second then go to first for a smoother engagement,
about the A/C while idleing, my integra would vibrate a little and idle would go a little low when completely stopped, i guess the motor is too weak for the a/c... dam four bangers.

i think people just don't blip the gas enough to get into 1st. your rpms are supposed to be at around 3400 rpms when you're going 15 mph.

[QUOTE=miamijdmcoupe524]you never downshift into first!!!! whats wrong with you guys....... thats one of the best ways of "riding" your clutch. always downshift into second until you stop.
i agree with that i've never down shifted into 1st if your not below 5.. just roll in second unless your trying to race someone....even then i dont think i'de down shift into first to race unless i was going under 5 mphs hahaha

Hmm that could be a sign that your clutch is going out. Just recently got my clutch replaced and it slips into 1st smoothly now. Beofre it wouldn;t go into 1st unless I was completely stopped. New clutch or bleed the system FTW

what are you talking about "riding" the clutch. If you rev match properly there is no problem downshifting into 1st. I have to do it all the time while autocrossing.

When the A/C compressor comes on, the ECU is supposed to raise idle to compensate. If it doesn't then you have a problem somewhere. At normal idle, when you hit the A/C button, RPM should drop slightly but then immediately come back up to either the same, or a little higher than it was w/o the A/C on.
