Default trouble with removing speedo cable from tranmission

Cable broke and the "tip" on it where it goes into the housing on the tranmission is still there. How can i get this out? Can i remove the whole housing from the tranmission? I unbolted the housing but the flat piece broke off

that flat piece comes off, its seperate. i couldnt get my d series vss out, i was trying and i finally gave up. yours might be easier because it will be easier to get that tip out with the whole unit out of the tranny

spray a little wd40 around the edges, and wiggle the vss back and forth, it will eventually come out
